Castelli, located at the foot of the Gran Sasso at 500 meters above sea level, is one of the oldest towns in the Teramo Apennines. It surprises visitors with its unique position against a brecciated spur deeply eroded by the Rio and Leomogna rivers. The houses in the historic center are supported by imposing stone arches (the "steccato"), which light up at night, offering a fascinating view of this small village. Even more surprising are the small artisan workshops scattered throughout the town.
Castelli is internationally famous for its traditional artistic ceramics, which, although still the main economic activity today, once enjoyed great renown. Every sign you encounter while walking through the village bears the signature of one of the craftsmen who, with skill and passion, renders a small corner of the town unique.
